Roger Miller, Maximum Electric Piano live performance set up:
Piano: Yamaha CP-70B, electric baby grand piano with strings
Effects: Two distortion devices, analog echo, EH 16 second digital delay
Piano Preparing Tools: Alligator clips, small bolts, wood, combs, guitar slide, guitar picks, ear plugs, fingers
Vocals.

"The Nature Army" and "Ra's Atomic Transport" appeared on the associated "Groping Hands" EP but were not on the initial "Big Industry" album.

"Portrait of a Mechanical Dog": Steve Adams - sax and clarinets. Russ Smith - sampled percussion set*
"Hammers": Russ Smith - Hammers on pipes, girders, etc., Foreman's vocals
"The Age of Reason" - Russ Smith - Sampled percussion set*. Roger - Toy piano.
"Groping Hands": Melissa Howe - viola. Roger Sampled* and real-time percussion
"Manic Depression": Roger - sampled percussion set*
"We Don't Know Why:" Steve Adams - saxes
At times Roger played an acoustic grand piano for textural purposes.

*Sampled Percussion Set:
Oil tank, furnace, egg beater, lawn mower, hubcap, metal sheet, children's bells, helium tank, a marching snare drum with marbles in it, occasional Linn-drum sounds, all put into an EMU SP-12 sampler.
